INGOLDMELLS, ADDLETHORPE AND MOTTRAM’S GREEN JOINT CEMETERY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
 
MINUTES OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE  HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER, INGOLDMELLS ON WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 9TH 2022
 
Present:
Cllrs M Holyer (Committee Chair), J Sargent, L Hemingway, R Short, N Towers and G Escott. 
 
1. Apologies
No apologies. 
 
2. Declarations of Interest
None received.
 
3. To confirm the minutes of the Cemetery Management Committee Meeting held on Monday 7th March 2022.
With no matters arising, it was resolved unanimously to accept the minutes as a true and accurate record of the meeting. 
 
4. To receive an update on the income and expenditure from 1st March to 30th September 2022.
The previous Clerk to Ingoldmells Parish Council did not update the accounts as requested.
 
Cllr Holyer detailed the recent accounts that they could find, with an approximate balance of £10,000.00.  
 
5. To discuss future maintenance and development works.
Cllr Hemingway mentioned a bench with stone sides; however, Cllr Holyer advised the works on this bench have been done. 
 
Cllr Holyer reported that a water pipe was unsafe, and Graham Hand completed the works. Some tree branches were also trimmed. A new seat has also been installed in the new section of the Cemetery, donated by a family of a resident recently interred. 
 
Cllr Holyer mentioned that the area of Cemetery that runs alongside the housing fences looks untidy. Cllrs agreed to tidy the area.
 
6. To consider any health and safety issues
Trees in the Cemetery need cutting back - Cllr Escott to cut back. 
 
Cllr Holyer to ask Welton Garden Services to clear the leaves away once they’ve all be shed from the trees, unless there’s a funeral in the meantime. The rake left for members of the public to clear the graves has been stolen. 
 
7. To consider planting seven magnolia trees in remembrance of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Cllr Holyer advised these trees have been donated by Addlethorpe Parish Council with the intention of planting the trees on the eastern side by the laurel hedge. It was resolved unanimously to pay for the planting from the Cemetery account and ask Welton Garden Services to plant the trees.
 
8. To consider current charges and potential increases in line with inflation. 
Cllr Holyer provided Councillors with a list of fees and charges, recommending the current fees are appropriate. It was resolved unanimously to continue with current charges. 
 
9. To transact any other business.
Cllr Holyer reported that District and County Councillor C Davie will donate £200.00 to Addlethorpe Parish Council to buy a plaque to commemorate the planting of the seven magnolia trees in remembrance of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
 
Cllr Escott would like plant an oak tree in Mottram’s Green. 
 
10. To agree a date for the next meeting. 
It was resolved unanimously to hold the next meeting on Wednesday 5th April 2023. 
 
 
With no further matters to discuss, the Chair of the Council closed the meeting at 8:00pm.
