Minutes of the Finance Committee Meeting held on Monday 20th January 2020

Item 1 - Apologies: Mrs A Wormald (Vice Chairperson)

 

Item 2 - Conflicts of Interest: Cllr S Chambers – Agenda item 4

 

Item 3 – To receive the quarterly update on income and expenditure – October to December 2019 (third quarter) – Discussion took place with reference to the Council yard lease agreement and the non domestic rates paid by the Parish Council. Also discussed was the increase of electricity used at Glebe Park between both the Community Forum group and the new lighting columns. Reference was made regarding the Council’s lease agreements for 2020. The update was duly noted.

 

Item 4 – To consider financial planning and budgeting for 2020/2021

Members agreed to some items of project/development planning and set aside costs for the 2020/21 financial year, however, some items still require further information and costings. These shall be discussed at the March Council Meeting. Items discussed:

• Refurbishment of the village signs - agreed

• Mini Meadows – further information required

• Maintenance of the bus shelters – further information required

• Replacement of the Flag Pole – agreed

• Purchase of a disabled family bench for Glebe Park – agreed

• A music event in Glebe Park – further information required

• Planting of Flower tubs and baskets – not agreed

• A new piece of disabled play equipment for Glebe park – agreed

• Upgrade of the car park pay and display machines – more information required

• Increased number of seat benches – more information required

• Matting under play equipment in both Glebe Park and the MUGA, Queen Elizabeth playing fields - agreed

 

Item 5 – To reconsider the Council’s use of Internet Banking

All in favour with the exception of Cllr M Holyer

 

Item 6 – To transact any other Finance business

Following the late notification that the re varnishing of the Royal Arthur hall would not take place, members agreed that the Clerk contact the remaining two companies who provided estimates. The Clerk shall ask if they could honour the estimates submitted in November 2019 until the end of this financial year. To be discussed at the next meeting of the Council

 

Item 7 – To confirm a date for the next meeting of the Finance Committee

The meeting will take place on Monday 20th April 2020 at 7pm in the Civic Room, Council Offices

 

The meeting closed at 8.05pm.
